Las Cruces to host spring bicycle riding program

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department offers a Group Bicycle Riding Program. The program is geared towards the 50 plus community, but anyone 18 and older is welcome to participate. Participants can sign up for individual rides at Frank O’Brien Papen Recreation Center, 304 W. Bell Ave.

High Point firefighters may respond to emergencies via bicycle
News & Record – 3/13/14
The High Point Fire Department recently got a grant of about $18,800 to outfit bike teams – trained firefighters who respond to calls on bicycles. It also paid for eight mountain bicycles outfitted with sirens, Automated External Defibrillators, oxygen, masks for CPR, bandages, EpiPens and other necessary equipment. The teams will share the bikes.

A Bicycle Basics for Adults two-hour classis offered from8 to 10 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of the month through May at the Peace Lutheran Church, in the west side parking lot.No pre-registration required; the class, which meets this Saturday, is open to the first 10 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
