Industrial product designer Joey Ruiter didn’t set out to design a bicycle specifically for beer nerds. It just kind of happened that way. Ruiter is opening an exhibition Friday at the Grand Rapids Art Museum featuring several of his conceptual bicycles — including one that has been raising eyebrows in both craft beer and design circles around the country this summer.

Retail members now support the Boulder-based group by asking customers to join and donate to the organization instead of paying annual dues. Participating shops receive a redesigned point-of-purchase kit, which provides buttons, stickers and information cards for customers who sign up for PeopleForBikes. Retailers have recruited more than 150,000 members using older versions of the kits.
