But the cycle industry in Ludhiana, which has developed and manufactured new techniques to create modern bicycles, is now facing many problems and the fear of China to eat into its profits also looms.

Despite the police making it compulsory for the bicycle traders to ask and keep identity proofs from their customers, a rule in force after the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts, which claimed 70 lives, was proven that the IEDs were planted in bicycles, majority of traders in the Walled City and others parts don’t abide by it.
