Sea Otter announces 2013 dates

Organizers of the Sea Otter Classic have announced dates for the 23rd annual event next year. The race and consumer expo will be held April 18-21 at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area. The event typically hosts more than 350 exhibitors showing nearly 600 brands.

For a few decades after its invention in the 1880s the bicycle was an icon of transition, excitement and modernity, in works like Toulouse-Lautrec’s gaudy portraits of Parisian track racing, or HG Wells’s romantic novel The Wheels of Chance.

During the cycling part of a triathlon on Sunday, Cryer lost control of his bicycle and hit the pavement skidding. Nothing was broken, but he left skin from his left side along a Los Angeles roadway.

Today, the City of San Francisco released its 2012 State of Cycling Report. The report, published every five years, tracks data regarding the number of people bicycling, as well as issues findings on public opinions about bicycling.
Are ‘veloways’ the future of cycling?

This proposal would apparently hang off an existing railway viaduct running about two kilometres between Melbourne’s Flinders Street and Southern Cross stations. It has some similarities with the proposal to re-use Sydney’s abandoned monorail infrastructure for a bike path.
